I love this writing prompt. Away to step back in time, to feel the nostalgia of a place. I can feel the steamy summers and the coolness of the creek where we used to collect crawdads.
But your essay, so much detail in a tight word limit that feels like the caravan in size but with all the openness once out the entry.
Thankyou Jeanine. I don’t think certain memories fade over time. Especially those that form in the early years. Yet, of course, they may change with each remembering.
Thank you for sharing your early childhood, Yasmin. You’ve stirred so many memories, most of all the smell of my Grandpa’s pipe, and, as ever, I enjoyed your writing so much I didn’t want the piece to end.
Wonderfully evocative. I remember the days of mothers staying in with ‘Woman’s Own’ and knitting needles and the coal man coming to deliver. A different country but a similar time!

I hope to read your reminiscence Stacy!
I need someone to type as I sit, walk, ramble about - there are so many stories in my head right now.
Wonderful memories, Yasmin. Very articulate on so much. Like a time capsule, really.

My grandpa smoked a pipe, I remember him for that, and his white whiskers.. He died when I was very young.

Thanks Valerie. I remember it all with fondness even though times were hard.
